So. Cal roots rocker Scottie
"Mad Dog" Blinn,
and partner in crime Eric
"Jailhouse" Von Herzen.
Mississippi Mud conjure
up spirits of an era past, and throw them into the here and now.
"Mad Dog's"
years recording and touring with the (original) Mississippi Mudsharks and the Tiki Torchers,
combined with "Jailhouse's" time served with Social Distortion,Walter
Trout, and The Rhythm Lords, makes this
crew tough to top. Equally at home with the old traditional styles
and modern influences, there is always RESPECT for
the roots...even when they are really knockin' it out.
"Keep it simple...Less
is more"
"Mad Dog's"
guitar playing and vocals will sock ya in the gut every time.
And "Jailhouse's" harp swings from dark and melodic,
to a full steam rollin' freight train that'll knock ya right on
your ass.
For the Fall 2004 European
Tour, add to the mix the solid and hypnotic rhythms of Greg "Whiskey Willy" Willis, original bassman for the Iron Butterly
and Candye Kane (bass), and Larry
Dent (Junior Walker, Bruce
Hornsby) on drums and you have a seriously
tough rhythm section. These
guys are the driving force behind the primitive and raw sound
of the band.
Not content with living
in the past, the boys have pushed the envelope with a completely
new and unique style they've coined "Grease Punk". "It's a blend of Screamin' Jay Hawkins and the
Cramps," describes Blinn. Roots firmly planted in tradition,
but with a punk edge. Or as Von Herzen puts it in plain terms,
"ever heard of it before? No you haven't, 'cause we just
fuckin' invented it."
Dark, swampy, primitive,
and raw...Back to basics in the truest form!
