ZOMBO'S PUNK RODS--So Cal greaseball suf/rock/punk instrumental
maddness, that's what this is. With 2005 being an off-year for
Mississippi Mud, Scottie
"Mad Dog" Blinn
had a lot of writing time on his hands. With a background in old
instrumental surf and rock, and always incorporating this style
into any live show, Mad Dog hooked up with good friend Kip "Babyface" Dabbs (Rhythm Lords, James Intveld, Mississippi
Mud) and decided to bring back this style with a modern twist.
"Mad Dog's" got the "BIG" guitar sound, and
"Babyface's" got the baddest original surf beats around.
In the vein of Link
Wray (RIP), Dick Dale, and Los Straightjackets, and the attitude
of the Clash and the Ramones, this is an in your face instrumental
assult. Mostly original songs written while watching old re-run
DVD's of THE MUNSTERS, and Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns.
SERIOUSLY! This is Hot Rod Surf--Sinister Surf, in the finest
Southern California style.
Like Mississippi
Mud and The Mississippi Mudsharks, this is a band built on keeping
traditional roots firmly planted, but making something new and
original out of it.
The CD is currently
in production, and few select live shows will be announced later
this year.
