"I played (Monday), and they are in bad shape. But I played today, and they really are 25% to 50% of the way back. They are much better today, and I know some people won't be able to believe that," Matteson Converse High Tops Uk Womens said.
a smooth roll like at Augusta, but you have to deal with it. Actually, other than the brand new green at 8, and 9 is struggling, the greens on the front nine aren't that bad."
SCHEDULE: This week in golf, at a glance
Presently, six greens could create potential problems and alter approaches to the greens. Patches of troubled grass could lead tournament officials to shorten some of the holes to allow players to use wedges and 9 irons for shots into the greens instead of 4 irons and 3 irons.

Greens at Quail Hollow could be a problem
"They are puttable. I've seen worse," Matteson said. "This place has been pristine all the years I've played it and you have one bad year, after getting some bad weather in the winter, you have to give them a bye. This is one of the premier events on Tour so it's acceptable to have one bad year.
"I've played worse," veteran Scott Verplank said Tuesday halfway through his practice round. Verplank said the greens when he won the 2007 EDS Byron Nelson Championship were very troubling as well. "It's a premium golf course but the greens are a problem. You just have to go with the flow.
the greens and resodded both on April 21. Cal Roth, senior vice president for agronomy for the PGA Tour, said it was the first time in his 30 years that entire greens had to be repaired.
The greens were hampered by recent heavy rains Sunday and Monday morning. But Matteson said the course's Sub Air System is improving them by the hour, as did sunshine Tuesday afternoon. The current weather forecast for the rest of the week calls for clear skies and cool temperatures not the best weather, but certainly not the worst.

"It depends on yardage on the holes in question. You might play more aggressive to some pins so you don't leave yourself a long putt," he said. "For instance, at 13, when they put the pin behind the bunker on the left, you don't mind hitting it 40 feet past the hole Converse High Tops Sneakers For Girls

and taking two putts. Now, this year, you might try and hit it as close to the pin and if you hit it into the bunker, you might get it closer out of the bunker than you would putting it from 40 feet."
"The sodded greens are phenomenal, for doing it less than 10 days to go. The guys have worked so incredibly long hours and done a great job to get the greens where they are."
Still, Matteson said players may take a different approach this week.
"I think the tendency for a lot of guys will be to think too much about where to hit it, where not to hit it, what areas of the greens to avoid," he said. "But I think we've just got to go play golf and try to get the ball in the hole."

Nine days before the start of the tournament, the greens at Nos. 8 and 10 weren't just dormant, they were dead. A bad winter, unseasonably cool temperatures during the spring and little sunshine exacerbated the problem.
When you're putting for dough, it's not exactly what you want to see at the start of the week, for any little blemish on any of the putting surfaces can cause consternation throughout the end of the week.
And according to Troy Matteson, who played with Verplank, the greens are getting better.
There's more. Nos. 9, 12, 13 and 16 have trouble spots. In Monday's pro am, temporary greens were used at 8, 10, 12 and 13. Players were asked not to hit more than one approach shot into those four greens during Tuesday's practice rounds. They were asked to limit putting on the greens, as well.
Mark Russell, the PGA Tour vice president for rules, competition and administration, said tees could be moved up to help alleviate the situation.
